Youth Programs
Project Ripples Youth Programs engage young people in creative, hands-on art experiences that build skills, confidence, and connection.
Originally designed for students who may not otherwise have access to arts and creative programming, these workshops introduce creative disciplines in an approachable, supportive setting where learning happens through making, experimenting, and collaboration.
Core Areas of Focus
Creative Thinking
Youth Programs help young people learn how to think creatively by giving them space to experiment, try new ideas, and problem solve through making. The focus is on curiosity and process, not getting things “right.”
Creative Empowerment
Our programs are designed to help participants feel confident in their ideas and comfortable sharing their work. Through public exhibitions and community showcases, youth experience the pride of seeing their artwork displayed and appreciated or their products bought and revered. We want kids to leave feeling capable, encouraged, and proud of what they create.
Creative Possibilities
We show youth that creativity can take many forms, from art-making to entrepreneurship, and that their ideas can lead to real outcomes. The goal is to expand how they see themselves and what they imagine is possible.
Youth Art Workshop Model
This model engages youth participants in a multi-disciplinary exploration of different art mediums while developing skills in creative thinking, craft making, and social-emotional learning. The program culminates in a gallery show, open to the public, empowering the participants to share and take pride in the artwork.
-
We lead hands-on art workshops where youth explore practices like drawing, painting, and photography through guided projects. Workshops often end with a communal moment, like an exhibition or art show, where participants can see their work on display (along with the whole community).
-
These workshops serve children and teens of all skill levels, including youth who may not have access to art classes at school or in their community.
-
Participants leave with new artistic skills, increased creative confidence, and pride in seeing their work shared. For many, it is their first experience having their art publicly recognized.
Kids Biz Model
This model guides youth participants in launching their own (small) businesses while developing skills in creative thinking, marketing, communication, and sales. The program culminates in a marketplace open to the public where participants can sell their items.
-
Kids Biz guides youth through designing, making, and selling handmade products at community events like the Eclectic Music Festival and Arts Crawl. Participants work with volunteers to turn creative ideas into real products.
-
The program is designed for youth who are curious about making and collaboration, and who benefit from hands-on, real-world learning.
-
Participants gain confidence, communication skills, and an understanding of how ideas become tangible outcomes. Selling their work helps youth experience creativity as something that has value outside the classroom.
