Project_03: SELF PORTRAITS - a gallery featuring artwork by kids facing homelessness

Historically, self-portraits have been artworks made by an artist to visually represent oneself. But how could an artist represent themselves beyond a direct depiction of their face or figure?

Self Portraits is a collection of artworks created by kids facing homelessness that represent an aspect of their own identity. Through color, composition, and subject matter, these pieces become self-portraits and an artistic expression of who they are.

Through November 2024, Project Ripples and Project Worthy worked closely with a homeless shelter to bring both art and science-based projects to kids facing homelessness. Students learned drawing, watercolor, and still life photography, culminating in the Self Portraits gallery show.
